Welcome to the Bundesjazzorchester!

The Bundesjazzorchester (Bujazzo for short) is the official youth jazz orchestra of the Federal Republic of Germany. The most talented musicians of the next generation come together with renowned pedagogues and conductors to form an ensemble that strives for musical excellence. Originally founded in 1988 by Peter Herbolzheimer, the Federal Youth Jazz Orchestra is known today as the meeting point for the next generation of talented jazz musicians in Germany. More

Programmes 2024/25

Somewhere in the world
Selected music from the compensation files of persecuted musicians under National Socialism. Based on the piano movements of individual works, the German Music Council has commissioned compositions from contemporary jazz musicians such as Claudia Döffinger, Christian Elsässer, Theresia Phillip, Fabia Mantwill and Johannes Lauer. Titles such as “Ich bin von Kopf bis Fuß auf Liebe eingestellt” (Friedrich Holländer), “While My Lady Sleeps” (Bronislav Kaper) or “Irgendwo auf der Welt” (Werner R. Heymann) are transported into our time in this way: as modern jazz, avant-garde or pop songs - but always in the sound of the Bundesjazzorchester. Conductor: Niels Klein
